Dr. Floris M. Armstrong, founder and director of Isaiah 61 Ministries of Pittsburgh. Licensed and ordained to the Christian ministry by the American Baptist churches, U.S.A. Licensed clinical psychotherapist in two states, holds two masters and a doctorate from University of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh theological Seminary in respective fields; is a masters level social worker. Some of her achievements include professor, author, mental health and behavioral sciences consultant, writer, and program developer. Developer of training program for neophyte ministerial aspirants. Spiritual consultant to wife of U.S. Attorney General; Woman of the Year by Greyhound Corporation; founder and director of Outer Edges Prison Ministries, a community-based ex-offender program, first woman chaplain of Allegheny County Jail (ACJ), Pittsburgh, PA (twenty-four years) , where she recruited, trained and supervised ten ordained male ministers and ten women volunteers for services and programs she designed for the residents. She is recipient of more than seventy-five awards in recognition of accomplishments here and abroad, including being a regular lecturer at the Martin Luther King alma mater, Morehouse College, at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA; the William Hausman award for outstanding accomplishments in missions from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
